London sure gets more exciting and fun when travelling with kids. There are countless fun things to do in London for families.

After all, the weather is perfect, and there is a lot to do and see here. Most of those top picks for children are for free. There are countless small delights in the city of different neighbourhoods dotted with green parks, historic houses, and great museums.

There is so much to do here that is educational and fun in London. Enjoy visiting the historical landmarks, huge parks, and free museums, which are enough to keep your family busy for days!

Before you plan on what things to do in London with kids, just follow a bit of general advice.

London can be expensive, so look for free and fun things to do. Look for cheaper family-friendly homes and less expensive but more convenient ways of travel. While travelling by Tube is much faster than the bus, it is less kid friendly.

Eat and live like the locals and don’t shy away from favourite restaurants and street food. Browse London tourism bureau to look for family-friendly restaurants and useful information on cheaper accommodations, major attractions, and free activities.

Get London White Card to enter a variety of museums. Avoid weekends and school holidays for popular museums and other attractions as you may have to queue outside.

Here are some ideas on how to have maximum fun on your family trip to London. While some of those activities are for free, others can be expensive but worth the experience.

Most museums are free, and some good options are The Natural History Museum with magnificent Victorian architecture and a spectacular mammal hall. The British Museum with the Egyptian artifacts is simply amazing, and the Science Museum has hands-on kids’ science areas.

Enjoy the changing of the guard ceremonies at Buckingham Palace and Horse Guards Parade in Whitehall. Both take place at 11 am, but you need to check timetables. A fun activity for the children is a ride on the top of a London double-decker, and you can spot Oxford Circus and Leicester Square with them.

Visit the Princess Diana playground Kensington Gardens, which is a lovely reminder of a special princess. It is also a magical place for children who love exploring the vast central pirate ship. The Diana memorial fountain is another favourite spot for children and adults.

Check out the various parks, fabulous gardens, and open spaces in and around London where you can plan a great day out. You can plan a picnic and play games with your little ones for a relaxing and fun-filled day. The Regent’s Park, St James’s Park and Hyde Park are some good options.

There are plenty of markets and dazzling malls in London. Covent Garden Markets and Borough markets are very popular and can get overcrowded. Enjoy performance artists, and excellent magic and fire tricks show. Harrods is expensive but boasts of unusual stuff while Hamleys is the most magnificent toy store in the world.

Explore the beautiful, historic Greenwich and stand on the meridian line. It is not very far and is a standalone area.  It is one of the favourite parts of London with many attractions for the children. You can explore free museums and wonderful markets and enjoy street food.

Discover the magnificent Leeds Castle located in Kent’s beautiful countryside and take a tour inside. Walk through the grounds to experience the enchantment of its surroundings, and you feel as if you are in a different world away from the 21st-century life.

Take a fun-filled graffiti tour of the city and discover its colourful, quirky street art. The best graffiti spots can be found around Brick Lane.  This is a great way to offer information about the art to your kids in an entertaining way.

Visit the London Zoo, and it is a must-do if you are visiting London with children. If your family is passionate about animals, you must check out the elephant house.

London Sea Life Aquarium will amaze you with its beautiful and fascinating creatures of the underwater world. enjoy looking at the schools of colourful fish and other marine species like seahorses, octopus, green turtles and zebra sharks.

Climb over the iconic roof of the O2 Arena and enjoy a completely different side of London as you look at the 360° views of landmarks. You feel like an urban mountaineer as you climb up with your kids in climb suit, boots, and harness. Show them panoramic views of the Tower Bridge, Big Ben, The Shard, Canary Wharf, and the Olympic Park.
