Free Home Fire Safety Worksheet For Kids
Using a home fire safety worksheet was a great way for us to cover serious topics without it feeling like a lecture.
We used it during a quiet afternoon, and it turned into a mix of coloring, sorting, and asking lots of โwhat ifโ questions.
It was simple to prep and gave us a clear way to talk through things like smoke detectors, safe exits, and emergency actions, even the stuff thatโs easy to forget in the moment.

Fire Safety At Home Worksheet
This home fire safety worksheet set includes five printable pages that help kids learn fire safety in a hands-on, age-appropriate way.
Sort and Categorize Fire Safety Cards
The first three pages include 20 black-and-white picture cards that kids can color, cut out, and sort into three categories: General Safety, Emergency Actions, and Safety Equipment.

We talked through each one as my son sorted them, things like staying away from the stove, not playing with matches, and how to check a door for heat.
Once sorted, the cards can be glued to a poster, taped into a notebook, or used as a review game.

Create a Written Fire Escape Plan
The My Fire Escape Plan encourages kids to write out their personal fire escape plan. There’s space to list all the exits in the home, choose a primary and backup route for each room, and name a safe family meeting spot outside.
It gave us a good excuse to double-check our smoke detectors and talk about what weโd actually do if we had to leave quickly.
Plus at the bottom of the page, the kids get to draw their escape route.

Fire Safety Coloring Page and Poster
The set includes two versions of the fire safety pages, one in color and one in black and white.
The black and white version works great as a coloring activity, especially for younger kids who are still learning the basics of fire safety.

Each page includes simple visuals alongside safety tips, making it easier for kids to connect the picture to the rule.
My son always prefers coloring first, and it gave us time to talk through each safety reminder at our own pace.

If youโre using this in a classroom or with a group, the color version works well as a reference poster. You can hang it near the door, in a hallway, or anywhere it might be a helpful visual reminder.
More Safety Printables
If youโre extending road safety lessons into a broader safety theme, these printables work well together and reinforce similar habits like stopping, waiting, and paying attention.
- Bicycle Safety Week Printables for learning about helmets, hand signals, and staying visible
- Fire Prevention Week Printables that introduce basic fire safety rules and awareness
- Road Safety Printables for continued practice with traffic and pedestrian safety
For younger children, fire safety tracing worksheets also pair well with these activities by adding simple early writing practice.

I just love your page and projects. I am the Director at a small city owned library. I do make up packets for the kids to get when they come in. They love them.
