Free Letter A Coloring Page for Early Learners
The letter A coloring page was a favorite when my son first started exploring letters.
He loved spotting familiar images like the apple and the astronaut, and the simple outlines made it easy for him to color confidently.
Each picture led to new questions, what do astronauts eat in space? Why do acorns grow into such big trees? Those little conversations turned early literacy into something playful and memorable.
With bold lines, easy-to-recognize โAโ words, and plenty of space to color, this printable is perfect for preschool and kindergarten learners who are starting to connect letters with words.
This page is part of our free ABC coloring pages collection and makes early alphabet learning feel fun and hands-on.

Letter A Books for Preschool
After finishing the coloring sheet, we often grab a few books to keep the letter A theme going, itโs a simple way to build on what theyโve just colored without adding more โwork.โ These are a few favorites that have stuck with us:
- Amazing Airplanes. My son loved this one when he went through his plane phase. The rhymes are fun to read aloud, and weโd look for details in the book that matched the pictures on the sheet.
 - A is for Apple. A gentle intro to the alphabet with familiar words and bright pictures. It pairs perfectly with the apple image on the page and helps reinforce letter sounds.
 - Alligator Alphabet. This oneโs just plain fun. The rhyming and colorful alligator illustrations kept him engaged, and it gave us another A-word to talk about while he colored.

If youโre working on the letter A this week, our A is for Apple handprint craft is a fun add-on. Itโs simple, a bit messy (in the best way), and ties in nicely with both the coloring page and alphabet books.
