Letter B Handprint Craft
B is for bee handprint craft is such an easy and fun way to learn the alphabet while making a sweet keepsake.
Kids love getting their hands covered in paint, and itโs one of those projects where learning and play happen at the same time.
Because itโs so simple, it works well at home with parents or in the classroom with a group of preschoolers.
How to Make It
- Print the alphabet handprint template. It comes as a single page. If it doesnโt arrive in your inbox right away, check your spam folder.
- Choose sturdy paper. Regular printer paper works, but cardstock makes the finished bee stronger and easier to display.
- Pick your paint colors. We usually use yellow for the wings, but kids might enjoy experimenting with pink, blue, or even glitter paint.

- Paint their hands. Use a small brush to spread a thin, even layer across their palms and fingers. Too much paint will smudge.
- Make the handprints. Press their hands down firmly on the page with fingers pointing upward, above the beeโs body. Press each finger gently to ensure a full print.
- Lift carefully. Pull the hands straight up to avoid smudges. Keep wipes handy for quick cleanup.

- Let it dry completely. This avoids smearing when you move to the decorating step.
- Once the paint is dry, kids can color in the letter B, decorate the beeโs body with stripes, and glue on a googly eye if you have one. A smile or extra designs can be drawn in with markers.

- Hang it on the wall, slide it into a binder, or save it as part of an alphabet book collection.

Books to Pair With the B is for Bee Craft
After finishing the B is for bee handprint, weโve often pulled out a book or two to keep the learning going, these are the ones my son enjoyed most.
- The Honeybee โ When we read this together, Freddie was fascinated by the close-up look at how bees work. The rhyming text made it fun to read aloud, and the bright illustrations gave him ideas for coloring his own bees after the handprint craft.
- Bee: A Peek-Through Picture Book โ This one kept my sonโs attention because of the cut-out pages. He loved following the little beeโs path with his finger, and it made a nice bridge between doing a quiet craft and storytime.
- B is for Bulldozer โ Not about bees, but it was a favorite during his โconstruction phase.โ I liked using it alongside the bee craft to show him that the letter B shows up in all kinds of words, not just animals.
