These printable Christmas gift tags have become a small but fun tradition in our home.
My son loves choosing which ones to color for each person, his grandpa always gets the nutcracker, and his cousins usually end up with the gingerbread men.
It’s such an easy way for kids to feel involved in the gift-giving process while adding something personal to each present.
They’re free to print for personal or classroom use, and perfect for quiet crafting time in the lead-up to Christmas. To get the printable PDF, just scroll to the bottom of this post and pop in your email.
Supplies You’ll Need
Here’s what we use to make the tags sturdy and colorful:
- Cardstock or printer paper – Cardstock holds up better on gifts, but regular paper works in a pinch.
- Coloring pens, Crayola crayons, or coloring pencils – Whatever your kids enjoy most! We’ve used everything from Crayola to metallic gel pens.
- Scissors or a paper cutter – A paper cutter makes straight edges easier, but scissors work fine too.
- Single hole punch – For threading the ribbon or string through the top of each tag.
- Gift tag string or ribbon – We like using red-and-white baker’s twine, but any festive ribbon works.
How to Use the Tags
Start by printing the pages below (portrait orientation). Each sheet features four unique Christmas tags, and there are three pages in total:
- A Christmas tree, nutcrackers, an ornament, and a gingerbread man
- Elves, a letter to Santa, another tree, and a mailbox
- An angel, a girl with gifts, a second gingerbread man, and a cheerful elf
We usually color them in before cutting, it’s just easier that way with little hands.
Then we punch a hole at the top and thread through some ribbon or string.
On the back, there’s plenty of space to write a name or message.
It’s a simple project, but it adds so much joy to the wrapping process.
