Free Easter Handprint Craft Printable (6 Keepsake Templates)

An easter handprint craft printable is one of those activities that always looks simple on paperโ€ฆ and then somehow turns into paint on elbows and the table.

But itโ€™s still one of my favorite seasonal crafts because the finished result is something youโ€™ll actually keep.

These six printable templates (bunny, chick, carrot, and a few extra designs) are easy to prep and realistic to do with preschool and early elementary kids.

You just print the page, add paint, press their little hand down once, and youโ€™re done. Itโ€™s quick enough for a classroom and special enough to tuck away in a memory box when Easter is over.

Handprint Craft for Easter

These Easter handprint templates are designed to be simple. Print them on cardstock if you have it (it holds washable paint much better), set out a few small paintbrushes or foam brushes, and keep a pack of wipes nearby. Thatโ€™s honestly all you need.

Each design prints on a full page, and you can find the PDF at the bottom of this post. Let the paint dry fully before stacking or framing, thicker paint takes longer than you think.

Handprint Carrot Tops

The carrot page reads:
โ€œHandprint carrot tops, growing so fine. Hoppy Easter from this little hand of mine!โ€

Printable Easter handprint art template featuring a cute bunny next to a carrot in a hilly background. The top text reads, โ€œHandprint carrot tops, growing so fine. Hoppy Easter from this little hand of mine!โ€ A green paint bottle and paintbrush are placed beside the page, ready for kids to stamp their painted handprint above the carrot.

Paint your childโ€™s hand green and press it just above the carrot to create the leafy top. A thin layer of washable tempera paint works best, too much and the fingers blur together. Press firmly once and lift straight up. No sliding or twisting (thatโ€™s usually what causes smudges).

The poem at the top reads, โ€œHandprint carrot tops, growing so fine. Hoppy Easter from this little hand of mine!โ€ Green and pink bead necklaces decorate the background.

Hoppy Easter Chick (Nest Design)

This template creates a little chick resting in a handprint nest.

Easter handprint art template featuring a cute yellow chick hatching from a white egg, with the phrase โ€œHoppy Easterโ€ written in orange at the top. The setup includes three paint pots in yellow, white, and orange, along with a paintbrush, suggesting it's ready for kids to add painted handprint wings to complete the chick design.

Brush yellow or brown paint onto the palm and press it beneath the chick to form the nest shape. If youโ€™re working with younger kids, Iโ€™d recommend doing one print at a time rather than lining up multiple pages. It keeps the mess manageable.

Kids' painted handprints in shades of yellow and brown form a semi-circle nest beneath the chick. Green and pink bead necklaces frame the artwork, adding a festive touch.

Once dry, adding a name and date turns it into a keepsake youโ€™ll actually want to save.

Easter Bunny (Handprint Ears)

The bunny template uses handprints as ears, which is always a hit.

Easter handprint art template featuring a bunny standing between two carrots in a patch of soil with the caption โ€œHave a bunny-tastic Easter!โ€ in pink text at the top. The background is blank, inviting kids to add handprint ears or decorations using the pink and white paint pots and paintbrush shown beside the page.

Stamp one painted hand on each side above the bunnyโ€™s head. Softer shades of pink tend to show detail better than darker colors. If the first print is lighter than expected, let it dry completely before layering another, trying to โ€œfixโ€ wet paint rarely ends well.

The phrase โ€œHave a bunny-tastic Easter!โ€ is printed at the top in playful pink font. Green and purple beaded necklaces frame the cheerful craft, which is from homeschoolof1.com.

Easter Chick

This design uses a single handprint as the chickโ€™s body.

A tiny chick from a hand so small, wishing you a Hoppy Easter, one and all!โ€ The page features cartoon chick eyes, beak, and yellow feet, with space above for kids to add a yellow handprint body. A paintbrush and yellow paint are placed beside the template, ready for crafting.

Position the painted hand just above the printed feet and press down evenly across the fingers and palm. Lift straight up to keep the outline clean. Once the paint has dried, you can leave it simple or add small details like googly eyes.

Rainbow Handprint Art

For the rainbow page, press painted handprints at the ends of the arches. Using different colors for each print gives it a cheerful, layered look. A foam brush helps spread paint evenly without overloading the hand.

Easter handprint art template featuring a pastel rainbow with the message โ€œHappy Easter in all colors!โ€ written above in blue, pink, and yellow. Four paint potsโ€”yellow, white, teal, and purpleโ€”are placed to the right, and a paintbrush lies below the page, ready for decorating with handprints.

This one works especially well if youโ€™re crafting with mixed ages, everyone can choose their own color combination.

The phrase โ€œHappy Easter in all colors!โ€ is written in soft multicolored letters above. The artwork is surrounded by green and pink beaded necklaces.

Unicorn Handprint

The unicorn template uses handprints as decorative accents.

Lighter shades like lavender or pastel pink tend to photograph nicely if youโ€™re sharing these with family. Press once firmly and lift straight up. This is probably the quickest of the six designs if youโ€™re short on time.

Other Easter Activities

If youโ€™re planning a full Easter week of activities, here are a few more favorites weโ€™ve actually used over the years:

Easter Books to Pair With This Craft

After we finish an Easter handprint craft printable, I usually like to slow things down with a picture book. It keeps the theme going without adding more mess, and it helps little ones reset while the paint dries. These three are easy wins for preschool and early elementary.

The Easter Egg by Jan Brett – This one feels special every time we read it. The illustrations are so detailed that kids naturally linger on each page, spotting tiny extras in the borders. It pairs perfectly with the bunny handprint template, especially if you want to talk about helping, trying your best, and not giving up.

There Was an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Chick! by Lucille Colandro – If your kids are wiggly and still covered in paint, this is the one. Itโ€™s silly, predictable, and easy to read with lots of expression. It works especially well before doing the chick handprint, theyโ€™ll already be laughing before you even open the paint.

Pete the Cat: Big Easter Adventure by James Dean – Pete keeps things calm and colorful. This is a great choice if youโ€™ve got early readers who want something familiar and low-pressure. It transitions nicely from storytime into a simple Easter craft without everything feeling over-the-top.
