Free Online Trivia Games for Kids and Teens

We’ve always been a bit competitive when it comes to trivia in our house, so creating my own online trivia games was probably inevitable.

These free trivia games for kids and teens can all be played directly online, with no printing or prep needed. There’s a real mix too, with questions on history, geography, science, sports, movies, music, holidays, and plenty more.

Some are definitely educational, while others are really just an excuse to find out who knows far too much about Star Wars or football. They’re great for lesson review, classroom brain breaks, family game nights, or just filling ten minutes when you need something easy.

I’m continuing to add new trivia games, so this collection will keep growing. Pick a topic below and see how many you can get right.

Human Body Trivia

How well do you know what’s going on inside your own body? This human body trivia game covers organs, bones, body systems, and other facts about how the human body works.

Solar System Trivia

Planets, moons, space, and everything in between feature in this solar system trivia game. It’s a good one for space-obsessed kids, but there are enough tricky questions to catch out the adults too.

Weather Trivia

From clouds and storms to temperatures and extreme weather, this weather trivia game tests how much kids know about the weather happening around us every day.

Life Cycle Trivia

This life cycle trivia game covers how different plants and animals grow and change over time. Kids can test what they know about the stages of familiar life cycles and see how many they can get right.

Animal Trivia

Animal experts can put their knowledge to the test with this animal trivia game. The questions cover a mix of animals, habitats, characteristics, and some facts they might not already know.

Greek Mythology Trivia

Gods, goddesses, heroes, and monsters all make an appearance in this Greek mythology trivia game. If they already know their Zeus from their Poseidon, this should put that knowledge to good use.

Sports Trivia Games

If sports are more their thing, these trivia games put all those hours spent watching matches and remembering random statistics to good use. At the moment we have football and soccer, with more sports trivia being added to the collection.

Football Trivia

Think you know football? This football trivia game covers teams, players, the Super Bowl, records, and plenty of NFL history. Some questions are fairly straightforward, while others should separate the casual fans from the people who actually remember what happened three seasons ago.

Soccer Trivia

Put your knowledge of the world’s most popular sport to the test with this soccer trivia game. The questions cover famous players, clubs, international competitions, records, and memorable moments from the game.

Movies, Music & Pop Culture Trivia

Not everything needs to be educational. These trivia games are mostly here for fun, covering movies, music, Star Wars, pirates, and the sort of random facts that somehow stay in your head when useful information disappears completely.

Pirate Trivia

How much do you really know about pirates? This pirate trivia game covers famous pirates, ships, pirate life, history, and plenty of facts that go beyond eye patches and buried treasure.

Star Wars Trivia

We’re big Star Wars fans in our house, so this one was always going to happen. The Star Wars trivia game puts your knowledge of characters, planets, movies, and the wider galaxy to the test. See who actually knows their Star Wars and who has just watched the films a ridiculous number of times.

Movie Trivia

From well-known characters to memorable movies, this movie trivia game tests how much you remember from the big screen. It’s a good one to play together, particularly if everyone is convinced they know more about movies than everyone else.

Music Trivia

Put all those completely unnecessary music facts to good use with this music trivia game. The questions cover artists, songs, bands, and music from different decades, so knowing what’s currently in the charts won’t necessarily save you.

Holiday and Seasonal Trivia Games

I’ll be adding more of these throughout the year, with trivia games for different holidays and seasons. They’re an easy addition to a classroom celebration, family gathering, or just something fun to play when the holiday rolls around.

Memorial Day

Test your knowledge of the history and meaning behind Memorial Day with this Memorial Day trivia game. The questions cover the origins of the holiday, American history, traditions, and why we observe the day.

July 4th

How much do you know about Independence Day? This July 4th trivia game covers American history, the Declaration of Independence, July 4th traditions, and some less obvious facts about the holiday.

Summer

This summer trivia game is a bit more lighthearted, with questions covering summer traditions, vacations, sports, food, weather, and other things associated with the season. A good one for the end of the school year or a family game over summer break.

How the Online Trivia Games Work

There’s nothing complicated to set up. Choose one of the online trivia games for kids, answer the questions directly on the page, and see how you did at the end. There’s no account to create, nothing to print, and no prep needed.

The games can be played on a computer, tablet, or phone, so they’re easy to use in the classroom or at home. You can play individually, take turns, or put everyone’s knowledge to the test and see who gets the highest score.

Ways to Use the Trivia Games

Teachers can use the games for a quick lesson review, classroom brain break, or an easy activity for early finishers. They also work well when you have ten minutes left at the end of a lesson and starting something new seems like a terrible idea.

At home, use them for family game night, a rainy-day activity, or simply challenge each other to see who gets the highest score. We tend to get far more competitive about trivia than is probably necessary.

More Free Games and Activities

If you’ve worked your way through the trivia, I have plenty of other free games and tools to try.

Create your own puzzles with my free worksheet generators, including word searches, crosswords, word scrambles, spelling tests, and math worksheets.

For something a little less educational, try the Scattergories generator, have a go at the Connections game, or create something completely ridiculous with the Mad Libs generator.

They’re all free to use online, and I’m constantly adding new games and tools to the collection.
