Free Printable Easter Bunny Footprints (Easy DIY Trail)

Every year, I set out these Easter bunny footprints before I go to bed, and without fail, the first thing my son used to notice wasnโ€™t the basket, it was the trail.

Those little paw prints leading across the floor completely stole the show. If you want a simple way to make Easter morning feel a bit more special, this printable Easter bunny footprints template makes it easy.

Just cut, sprinkle, and create a trail that looks like the bunny really did hop through your house.

How to Make Easter Bunny Footprints?

Making Easter bunny footprints is surprisingly simple, and you probably already have everything at home.

Print the template on cardstock if you can, it holds up better and you can reuse it next year.

Carefully cut out the paw pads and toe shapes, keeping the outer paper intact so it works as a stencil.

Instead of flour, I prefer baking soda. It looks just as good and doesnโ€™t leave that slightly sticky feeling underfoot.

Place the stencil on the floor and lightly sprinkle the baking soda over it using a sifter or your fingers. Lift it straight up to keep the shape clean, then repeat to create a hopping trail.

If you want the footprints to look a little more realistic, space them about 8โ€“12 inches apart for younger children, or slightly farther if youโ€™re creating a longer โ€œhop.โ€ Real rabbits move in short bursts, so uneven spacing actually looks more natural than perfectly measured gaps.

Rabbits also leave both front and back prints, but the back feet usually land slightly ahead of the front ones. For a simple version, you can just use one stencil repeatedly. If youโ€™d like a more authentic look, place two prints close together (front paws), then stagger a slightly larger set just ahead to mimic the back feet landing forward.

You can laminate the stencil if you plan to reuse it each year. It helps prevent warping, especially if youโ€™re using baking soda or spray chalk.

As for sizing, printing at 100% works well for most homes. If youโ€™re decorating outside or leading to a larger display, you can scale the print size up to 110โ€“125% for more impact.

They also work well as part of an Easter egg hunt, especially if the trail leads to the first clue.

Can I Add The Easter Bunny Footprints Outside?

Yes, you just need something heavier than flour so the wind doesnโ€™t carry it away.

Washable white spray chalk works well on driveways and sidewalks. Place the stencil down firmly and spray lightly over it, then lift straight up to keep the edges clean. Most brands rinse off with water, but itโ€™s always worth testing a small area first.

On grass or stone pathways, you can use diluted white washable craft paint. Keep the layer thin so it breaks down easily with rain or a quick hose spray.

Spacing the prints slightly unevenly makes them look more natural, especially if theyโ€™re leading to the front door or around the yard toward hidden eggs.

If youโ€™re planning a full Easter morning, it helps to have a few simple activities ready to go once the footprints have been discovered.

An Easter bingo game works well for mixed ages and keeps everyone involved while chocolate is being rationed. Itโ€™s easy to set up and doesnโ€™t require much prep.

The Easter matching game printable is a quieter option thatโ€™s great for younger kids who enjoy memory-style games and a bit of friendly competition.

And if your little ones love the idea that the bunny really visited, an Easter bunny letter template adds a personal touch, especially when it ties into the trail they just followed.
