Free Raccoon Worksheets

Exploring Raccoons
Raccoons are particularly interesting animals to study because they have adapted to living in many different environments, including areas close to people. The activities in this set encourage kids to investigate both their physical features and the behaviors that help them survive.
Parts of a Raccoon Worksheet
The first activity introduces raccoon anatomy. Kids use the words provided to label the different parts of the raccoon and then color the illustration.
This is a good opportunity to look more closely at the features that make a raccoon so recognizable. Their dark facial markings and striped tails are obvious, but their front paws are especially interesting.
Encourage kids to think about how raccoons use their paws for climbing, finding food, and investigating objects around them.

All About Raccoons Research Worksheet
Rather than giving kids all the answers, this worksheet asks them to become the researchers.
They’ll investigate appearance, habitat and diet, movement, and interesting raccoon facts, recording what they discover in each section.
There are plenty of interesting directions to take their research. Kids might discover when raccoons are most active, where they make their dens, how well they can climb, or why raccoons are so successful at living in different habitats.
They can then choose their favorite facts to complete the final section of the worksheet.
What Do Raccoons Eat?
One reason raccoons can survive in so many different places is that they are omnivores with a varied diet.
For this activity, kids cut out the food pictures and decide whether each one belongs under “Raccoons Eat This” or “Raccoons Don’t Eat This.”
It’s a simple hands-on activity that helps kids think about the foods a wild raccoon might naturally find rather than assuming they’ll eat absolutely anything!
