Learning About Forest Animals

Forests provide animals with everything they need to survive, including food, water, shelter, and places to raise their young. Depending on where they live, woodland animals may make their homes in trees, underground burrows, hollow logs, or among dense plants on the forest floor.

Comparing animals such as deer, foxes, squirrels, raccoons, rabbits, and owls is a simple way to explore how different species adapt to the same environment. Kids can look at what each animal eats, where it sleeps, how it moves, and the features that help it survive.

Our habitat coloring pages are another fun way to explore where animals live and compare forests with other habitats around the world.
