How to Use the Word Search Generator
Add your own words one per line, or use one of the ready-made lists for animals, space, science, geography, sight words, or weather. Then choose your grid size and decide whether words can appear horizontally, vertically, diagonally, or backwards.
The generator has three grid sizes:
- 10×10: up to 8 words
- 15×15: up to 18 words
- 20×20: up to 30 words
Add a title, choose whether you want an answer key, then click Generate and Print. Your printable puzzle opens with a word bank ready to use.
Ideas for Your Custom Word Search
I use word searches most often for spelling and vocabulary, but you can make one for almost anything. Try weekly spelling words, sight words, science vocabulary, states and capitals, historical figures, book characters, or Spanish vocabulary.
For an easier puzzle, use a smaller grid with horizontal and vertical words. For more of a challenge, add diagonal and backwards words.
