Free Australia and Oceania Worksheets for Kids

These free Oceania and Australia worksheets are an easy way to help kids learn about Australia and the countries of Oceania through hands-on geography activities. The printable pack includes a blank Oceania map, fact sheet, flag matching activity, word search, word scramble, and a kangaroo research worksheet.

We use these when we’re studying world geography, but they also work well for country studies and classroom geography lessons. Just print the pages you need and you’re ready to go.

A quick geography note: Australia is both a country and a continent, while Oceania is the wider geographic region that includes Australia, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, and many Pacific island nations.

There are 14 independent countries in the region of Oceania, including Australia, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, and many Pacific island nations.

Two printable Australia and Oceania maps are included in the pack. The first provides the country names for extra support, while the second is a blank map of Oceania for kids to label independently.

Students can use the printable Oceania map to identify and label the countries, color them in, or use it as part of a wider geography or country study.

Australia and Oceania Fact Sheet

The Oceania fact sheet gives kids a chance to research the geography of the region while completing 10 questions. They’ll explore the countries of Oceania, population and land area, major cities, and other geographical features.

The worksheet also includes activities comparing countries by population and land area, helping kids become more familiar with Australia and the wider Oceania region.

Kangaroo Worksheet for Kids

Use this kangaroo worksheet to research where kangaroos live, what they eat, how they reproduce, and the threats they face.

  • In what countries can you find kangaroos in their natural habitat?
  • How long do kangaroos live? In the wild, and in captivity
  • How many babies do kangaroos typically have?
  • The type of birth, is it egg or live?
  • What food do kangaroos eat? How do they get their food?
  • What is the population of kangaroos? What is their biggest threat?

Oceania Flags Worksheet

This Oceania flags worksheet helps kids learn to recognize the flags of 10 countries in the region. Students research the correct colors for each flag, color them in, and then match each flag to the correct country.

An answer key is also included, as some of the words can be tricky to find. You can find even more themed word search printables to use alongside your geography lessons.

Tip: We prefer using a highlighter or circling each word rather than crossing out the letters, as some letters may be used in more than one word.
