Finding the best toys for 10 year old boys has gotten trickier in our house lately, my son’s interests change so fast, it feels like what he loved last month is already old news.

At this age, they’re in that in-between phase where they still love to play but want toys that feel a bit more grown-up.

Whether it’s tech gear, brain-teasing puzzles, or anything that lets them compete or build something cool, I’ve rounded up the gifts that have actually been hits in our home (and with his friends).

Nintendo Switch 2 Mario Kart

This one’s a no-brainer if your kid is into gaming. My son has spent countless hours racing through Mario Kart tracks, and honestly, it’s one of the few games that gets the whole family involved. The online play option is a bonus, he can race his cousins even when they’re in another state.

Glow in The Dark Capture The Flag Game

The first time we used this, it completely changed the mood of the evening. Once it got dark, the glowing markers made the yard feel like a secret mission instead of just another game of tag. It works best when you’ve got a group who needs to move, this one actually wears them out.

Mega Slime Kit & Putty Lab

If your 10 year old is anything like mine, slime is still a huge hit. This kit was a rainy day lifesaver, he spent hours mixing, stretching, and testing what each kind did. The magnetic putty especially blew his mind. It’s messy, but totally worth it.

There’s something satisfying about watching it launch higher than expected. After the first few tries, it becomes a game of angles and force rather than just stomping and running. Ours has survived plenty of rough landings.

Even though the box says 3–10, my 10 year old still really enjoyed this. He treated it like a mini engineering challenge, trying to build the weirdest thing possible. It’s not super complex, but it’s a nice quiet-time activity that still stretches his brain a bit.

Remote Control Car

It transforms into a robot at the push of a button, and that alone sold it. My son drove this all around the house and kept showing us the transformation like it was magic. It’s more fun than your typical RC car and feels like two toys in one.
