Have fun with our free April Fools matching game printable.
April Fools Day is celebrated around the world on April 1st, and is the day when you are “allowed” to prank people!
Some of our favorite pranks have been:
- Making the fruit come alive with googly eyes and smiley faces!
- Turning his chair upside down when he was asleep the night before April 1st so when he woke up it looked silly
- Making cake pops with brussel sprouts (he didn’t find this very funny, I did though!!)
Printable memory games are great for younger children, but I have to admit I love them too.
There are 12 different April Fool themed images to print out, and you can design the back however you want.

April Fools Day Matching Game
This is a great game to play on April the 1st with the kids. Although I hope it doesn’t encourage the kids to prank you!
Supplies needed to play the memory game:
- cardstock (normal paper will work, but you might be able to see the images through it)
- paper cutter or scissors
- laminator (optional)
How to play the April Fool’s memory game:
Download the April Fools matching game below. There is 1 page included with 12 different images on and it will print out in portrait. Make sure to check the printer settings.
This free printable April Fools game is free to print but is for personal or classroom use only. Scroll to the bottom of the page to get the pdf file.
You will need to print the page twice, so you can match the images.
We like to decorate the back of the images. So cut around the border around the edge so you are just left with the 12 images.
Then just grab your coloring pens (these are the ones we love and use all the time) and have fun.
When you have printed the 2 pages you will need to cut out all of the different images.
I prefer to use a paper cutter as it’s easier, quicker, and more accurate, but scissors will work too.
Now you will have two sets of 12.
Shuffle them up and lay them on the table face down in rows to make it easier, or just randomly on the table for older kids.
If you are placing them in rows I find 6 rows with 4 images each works best.
Playing the game is simple. Take it, in turn, to turn over only 2 images.
If it is a match you can either remove them from the game and place them in front of you or leave them turned over face up.
If it is not a matching pair just return the 2 cards upside down back on the table, and continue play.
The winner is the person who creates the most matches.
