Grim Reaper Handprint Craft for Kids

We made this grim reaper handprint craft one rainy October afternoon when my son wanted something spooky but not too scary.

It ended up being one of those simple activities that sparked a lot of laughter, and surprisingly, a great conversation about Halloween symbols.

The printable template gives just enough structure, and the stickers add a fun way to personalize it.

Whether you’re doing this in a classroom, with siblings, or just at the kitchen table, it’s an easy, low-prep way to make a Halloween keepsake you’ll actually want to keep.

How to Make a Grim Reaper Handprint Craft

We’ve made our fair share of Halloween crafts over the years, but this grim reaper handprint art still makes us laugh.

There’s something about combining spooky and silly that always works with kids. My son chose green for the scythe handprint, totally untraditional, but it gave the whole thing a kind of glow-in-the-dark vibe.

We printed the template on cardstock so it could survive the paint, and once it dried, he added googly wiggle eyes and stuck the Halloween “stickers” all over.

He even gave the reaper a rainbow robe just to make him less creepy.

The printable includes three pages: one with the reaper and scythe outline for the handprint, and two pages of themed images your child can cut out and glue on.

If you’re using colored paper, just print the first page, those stickers look better on white.

You don’t need anything fancy to make it work, just paint, scissors, and whatever creative chaos your kid wants to bring to it.

Let it dry completely before adding any extras, and don’t forget to snap a photo, these turn out weirdly cute.
