Letter I Handprint Craft
This I is for ice cream handprint activity is an easy, low-prep way to reinforce the letter I while letting kids get creative.
My son always loved the messier projects, and this one delivered, with just enough structure to keep it educational.
To get started, print the letter handprint template (you’ll find it at the bottom of the page).
It works best on cardstock, but regular printer paper is fine if that’s what you’ve got on hand.
How to Use the Template:
- Let your child pick the handprint color. We usually use Crayola washable paint because it’s thick enough to make a clear print and still easy to clean up. Just brush a thin layer onto their palm.
- Press the hand onto the page with fingers pointing down and the palm just below the last ice cream scoop.
- Lift the hand gently to avoid smudging.
- Let the paint dry fully before coloring in the letter I and the scoops.
Beyond letter recognition, handprint crafts like this also support fine motor skills, creativity, and sensory learning, especially for younger kids who learn best by doing.
