Free Mother Goose Coloring Page | Nursery Rhyme Fun

We used this Mother Goose coloring page during a quiet afternoon when we both needed a break from noisy activities.

I read the little story aloud while my son colored, and it ended up being such a calm way to wind down the day.

Each page has a short caption that gently moves the story along, from flying through the clouds to resting in a meadow, and it gave us a chance to talk about the scenes as he colored.

If you’ve got a preschooler who loves simple stories and needs something peaceful to focus on, these free coloring pages are a lovely fit.

  • Old Mother Goose riding on the back of her goose
  • The two of them flying through the clouds
  • Mountains, rivers, and a tiny house far below
  • A peaceful meadow filled with flowers

Who Was Mother Goose?

If your kids start asking who Mother Goose actually is (mine did), here’s a quick version you can share while they color.

The name “Mother Goose” first showed up in a book of French fairy tales in the 1600s. Later, in the 1700s, a publisher named John Newbery helped make her famous in English with a collection called Mother Goose’s Melody.

No one knows exactly who she was, but over time, she became the storyteller behind so many of the nursery rhymes we still read today. From Humpty Dumpty to Jack and Jill, the idea of Mother Goose has been part of childhood for hundreds of years.

It’s a fun bit of history to share alongside the coloring pages, especially if you’re using them to spark conversation or introduce classic rhymes.

More Free Mother Goose Activities

If your kids enjoyed the coloring pages, there are a few more easy and engaging activities you can add in.

  • The G is for Goose handprint art is always a hit, messy in the best way, and a fun way for little ones to connect the letter G with a hands-on project.
  • We’ve also used the life cycle of a goose worksheet to sneak in a little science. It walks kids through each stage from egg to adult, with space to color and label along the way.
  • The Mother Goose word search is great for early readers. It’s simple, calming, and works well as a quiet-time activity or a warm-up in a literacy center.
  • You might also enjoy this list of nursery rhymes for kindergarten. It’s packed with lyrics, learning tips, and fun activities to help bring the rhymes to life at home or in the classroom.
  • If you’re looking to expand even more, the Mother Goose Club has printable songs, rhymes, and activity sheets that pair nicely with any nursery rhyme lesson.

All of these make a natural extension to the story-based coloring pages and work just as well at home as they do in a classroom setting.
