How to Use the Riddle Generator

Choose a category, then select the answer you want your riddle to lead to. You can create riddles for household objects, classroom items, outdoor locations, food and kitchen items, animals, and holidays.

Next, choose Easy, Medium, or Hard. Select General for a standard riddle, Escape Room to turn the answer into a location clue, or Scavenger Hunt when you want players to find their next clue.

Click Generate Riddle to create your clue. If you want a different version using the same answer and settings, choose Another Riddle, or use Surprise Me to generate something completely random.

Create Riddles for Escape Rooms and Scavenger Hunts

The generator can turn familiar objects and locations into clues, making it particularly useful for escape room puzzles, scavenger hunts, treasure hunts, and party games.

For example, choose Bookshelf as the answer and the generator can create a clue that sends players there without naming it directly. Increase the difficulty when you want the location to be less obvious.

You can combine several riddles using different answers to create a complete trail around the house, classroom, or outdoor space.

Create Number Clues for Lock Codes

Choose Numbers & Codes when you need clues that lead to a number rather than an object or location.

You can create clues for a single number or a 2, 3, 4, 5, or 6-digit code. Each digit gets its own riddle, so a four-digit combination produces four separate clues for players to solve.

This works especially well with combination locks in escape rooms, but you could also use the codes as passwords or as the answer needed to move on to another puzzle.
