Handprint Snowman Printable

This handprint snowman craft is one of our favorite winter projects, simple to set up, a little messy in the best way, and always a sweet keepsake. Kids get to be creative while making something youโ€™ll actually want to hold on to.

Using the free handprint printable template, they can decorate their snowman however they like, adding paint, color, and personal touches to make it their own.

How to make

Start by printing the handprint snowman template (portrait orientation, one full page). Regular printer paper works, but cardstock holds up much better with paint.

Let your kids pick their paint colors, we used grey for the snowmanโ€™s body, then red and green for the hat.

Childโ€™s hand fully covered in grey paint, ready to be pressed onto the snowman handprint template.

Use a small brush to paint one hand entirely in the base color (like grey), then press it on the page with the fingers pointing downward, just under the snowmanโ€™s scarf.

Two painted hands with grey palms, paint bottles, and a paintbrush, prepared for the snowman handprint craft.

Next, paint the palm of the other hand the same base color, but this time paint each finger a different color to form the snowmanโ€™s hat. Press this handprint above the scarf, fingers pointing up.

Both hands paintedโ€”one in solid grey, the other with grey palm and red and green fingersโ€”for the snowman handprint hat and body.

Make sure both handprints transfer fully by gently pressing all over the hand before lifting straight up. Wipes are handy for cleanup!

Once the paint is dry, add googly eyes and a carrot nose, then color in the scarf and snowflakes however you like.
