What’s Included in These Welsh Coloring Pages
The printable includes a selection of Welsh-themed coloring pages, each focusing on a different part of the country’s history, culture, or geography. Alongside every illustration is a short fact to encourage discussion and learning.
St. David’s Day & Wales
St. David’s Day is celebrated every year on the 1st of March and is one of the biggest days in the Welsh calendar. If you’ve visited Wales around the 1st of March, you’ll probably have seen daffodils, dragons, and plenty of people proudly wearing Welsh colors.
One page also features a map of Wales with a few quick facts about the country, including its capital city, Cardiff.

Welsh Flag & Language
The Welsh flag is one of the easiest for children to recognize thanks to its famous red dragon. For many children, it’s also one of the first symbols they associate with Wales.
Another page introduces the Welsh language. Although English is widely spoken, Welsh is still used every day and is taught in schools across the country.

Welsh Landmarks
Caernarfon Castle is one of the best-known castles in Wales. It was built more than 700 years ago and still attracts visitors from around the world. It’s one of my favorite castles to visit in Wales and always worth a stop if you’re in North Wales.

Welsh Culture & Traditions
Most people know the daffodil as the national flower of Wales, but the leek has been a Welsh symbol for centuries too. Both are closely linked with St. David’s Day and appear all over Wales every March.

Rugby is a huge part of Welsh life, and supporting the national team is a tradition shared by many families.
Sheep are just as much a part of the Welsh landscape. Drive through the countryside and you’ll probably see far more sheep than people, which is why they had to be included in this set.
Books About Wales for Kids
If your children enjoy these coloring pages, it’s worth following them up with a story set in Wales. I always like pairing coloring pages with a good book. It helps children connect what they’re learning with stories they’ll remember.
The Welsh Fairy Book is a wonderful collection of traditional Welsh folktales filled with dragons, magical creatures, and classic legends that bring Welsh storytelling to life for younger readers.
A Child’s Christmas in Wales offers a warm, nostalgic look at Christmas traditions in Wales, giving kids a gentle introduction to everyday life and culture through storytelling.
Welsh Legends and Myths retells famous Welsh myths in an accessible way, making it a great companion to lessons about dragons, castles, and ancient stories connected to Wales.
Celtic Fairy Tales includes stories from Wales and other Celtic regions, helping children see how Welsh legends fit into the wider Celtic tradition.
If you’d like something that leans more toward classic mythology, The Mabinogion (in child-friendly adaptations) introduces some of Wales’ oldest and most famous tales.
