Pumpkin Life Cycle Printables
The kids are going to love our free pumpkin life cycle worksheet.
Supplies Needed:
- cardstock (printer paper will also work)
- coloring pens
- paper cutter or scissors
- glue
- brass fasteners
Instructions:
Print out the pumpkin worksheets below, they will print out on 8 full pages. Make sure to check the printer settings.
The first worksheet is a great way for the kids to learn about pumpkins. What their appearance is, are they a fruit or a vegetable? What other foods are in the same family as the pumpkin, and are there any interesting facts?
Interesting Facts about Pumpkins
- The word pumpkin was first used in Cinderella, they used to be called pompions.
- The pumpkin plant grows on every continent except Antarctica
- Over 1.5 billion pounds of pumpkin are produced each year in the United States.
- The world’s heaviest pumpkin weighed over 2,600 pounds.
- Each pumpkin has about 500 seeds.
- There are more than 45 different varieties of pumpkins.
- Every single part of a pumpkin is edible, even the leaves.
- Pumpkins are 90% water.
- Although we often think of pumpkins as vegetables, they’re actually fruits!

We also use the book Life Cycles for our studies, they don’t have the pumpkin but do have other plants. We also love to use this life cycle kit, but of course, they do not have pumpkins.

The correct order of the life cycle of pumpkins is as follows:
- Pumpkin seeds
- Sprout
- Vine
- Pumpkin flowers
- Green pumpkin
- Orange pumpkin
The next 4 pages are for the children to remember the right order the pumpkin life cycle goes.
The first page has the image with just the words that need to be added as can be seen below.
The next page is much harder, the children have to color in the life cycle and the arrows on the blank worksheet.
Then they need to add the correct image with the correct word, in the correct position.
The completed pumpkin life cycle worksheet looks pretty impressive, and the children will be so proud of themselves for completing it.

Pumpkin craft
The life cycle of a pumpkin spinner wheel.
Cut out the two circles, and make sure on the pumpkin life cycle image you cut out the blank quarter.
Place the pumpkin life cycle image with the quarter cut out on top of the other image and add a brass fastener to the middle.
