Frankenstein Handprint Craft

This Frankenstein handprint craft is a fun Halloween activity for kids and makes a great keepsake too.

Using our printable Frankenstein template, kids can create their monster with a green painted handprint or torn paper. We’ve tried both versions, and the painted one is definitely messier, but that’s half the fun!

It’s simple enough for preschoolers and young elementary kids, with plenty of room to get creative with googly eyes, Halloween stickers, and different shades of green.

How to Make a Frankenstein Handprint with Paint

This handprint craft has been a favorite in our house for a few Halloweens now. The painted version is quick to make and a little messy, so keep some baby wipes nearby!

You’ll need the printable Frankenstein template, green washable paint, googly eyes, scissors, glue, and any extra decorations you want to add.

Frankenstein Handprint Craft Instructions

Brush a thin layer of green washable paint over your child’s palm and fingers.

Press their hand firmly onto the Frankenstein template, positioning the fingers above the face so they look like Frankenstein’s hair.

Carefully lift the hand away and leave the handprint to dry completely.

Add googly eyes once the paint is dry.

Cut out the Halloween stickers included with the printable and use them to decorate the finished Frankenstein craft.

We like to line up the fingers just above the bolts and eyes so they become Frankenstein’s messy hair.

My son loved adding bats and cauldrons all over the page, and we even used the extra stickers to decorate his trick-or-treat bag.

Torn Paper Frankenstein Craft

If you’d rather skip the paint, you can use the same Frankenstein template to make a torn paper version instead.

Start by tracing your child’s hand onto the printable with their fingers pointing upward.

Tear green construction paper into small, uneven pieces, then glue them inside the handprint outline to create Frankenstein’s face. Kids can mix different shades of green or add a little blue for an extra monster-like look.

Tearing and gluing the small pieces also adds some fine motor practice to the activity.

Once the paper is in place, add the eyes and cut out a few of the included Halloween stickers to decorate the finished Frankenstein.
