Frankenstein Handprint Craft Template For Halloween

We’ve made a lot of Halloween crafts over the years, but this Frankenstein handprint is one of our favorites.

It’s simple enough for preschoolers but still fun for older kids who like to get creative with paint or paper.

Whether we’re using green paint for a classic look or tearing up colored paper for texture, it always turns into a fun, slightly messy activity that makes everyone laugh.

If you’re looking for an easy Halloween craft that doubles as a keepsake, this printable is a great one to pull out, especially if you already have the paints or glue sticks on hand.

How to Make a Frankenstein Handprint with Paint

This handprint craft has been a favorite in our house for a few Halloweens now.

The painted version is simple, fun, and a little messy in the best way. Just brush a thin layer of green paint (or any spooky color) onto your child’s hand and help them press it onto the printable.

We like to line up the fingers so they become Frankenstein’s hair, right above the bolts and eyes.

Make sure you’ve got baby wipes on hand, this part can get a little wild!

Once the paint dries, kids can stick on googly eyes and cut out the printable Halloween stickers to decorate their monster.

My son loved adding bats and cauldrons all over the page, and we even used extras to decorate his trick-or-treat bag.

Torn Paper Frankenstein Craft for a No-Paint Option

If you’d rather skip the paint, this version uses torn paper instead and turns out just as fun. Start by tracing your child’s hand onto the printable, with the fingers pointing upward.

Then tear green or blue construction paper into small, jagged pieces. Gluing those down over the hand outline gives Frankenstein’s face a textured, scruffy look.

It’s a great way to sneak in some fine motor practice without it feeling like schoolwork. Let the kids mix different shades of green or get creative with layout, there’s no wrong way to build a monster!

Once finished, add eyes and cut out a few Halloween stickers to complete the look.
