Free Plant Life Cycle Worksheet for Kids

The plant life cycle worksheet was one of the first science printables that actually stuck with my son, probably because he got to cut, color, and build while learning.

We’ve used this set during spring nature studies, and it helped him understand each stage, from seed to sprout to flowering plant. The spinning wheel worksheet was especially fun. He still pulls it out when we talk about how things grow.

Whether you’re working through a full plant unit or just want a hands-on science activity that makes sense to young kids, these worksheets are simple to prep and easy to use at home or in a classroom.

Life Cycle of a Plant Worksheet

This free printable set includes seven engaging worksheets that help kids explore the full life cycle of a plant. From labeling parts to sequencing growth stages and building a spinning wheel, each page encourages hands-on learning and reinforces key plant science concepts.

Planning the Life Cycle of a Plant

The first worksheet encourages kids to research and identify the four main stages in a plant’s life cycle.

We often pair this with the book Life Cycles, which includes not just plants but also animals, Earth systems, and space. It’s a nice way to set the foundation before diving into more hands-on pages.

Plant Anatomy Worksheet

In this parts of a plant worksheet, kids color a simple diagram of a plant and draw arrows to label each part, roots, stem, leaves, and petals.

It’s a good visual introduction to basic plant anatomy and works well for early learners who are just starting to connect vocabulary with structure.

What Do Plants Need to Grow?

This page covers the five essentials every plant needs: water, light, air, the right temperature, and nutrients.

Not all plants require soil. My son was fascinated to learn that in South Florida, orchids grow high up on palm trees with no soil at all!

It’s a great conversation starter for how different environments affect plant life.

Sequencing the Life Cycle

Three of the plant worksheets focus on sequencing, where kids cut and paste the life cycle stages in the correct order.

Make a Spinning Life Cycle Wheel

This hands-on activity lets kids build a plant life cycle spinner. They cut out two circles, trim one to create a viewing window, and attach them with a brass fastener.
