Parts of an Apple Worksheet for Preschool and Kindergarten

This parts of an apple worksheet was a hit during our early fall science lessons, especially when we paired it with a real apple dissection.

My son loved matching each part on the page to the actual apple in front of him, and it turned into a simple but memorable way to explore basic plant biology.

Whether you’re doing a full apple unit or just need a quick hands-on activity, this free science printable adds just the right mix of learning and fun for preschool through first grade.

Apple Parts Worksheet

This printable shows a large, cross-section view of an apple, with six main parts to label and color: stem, seeds, leaf, skin, flesh, and core.

The simple design and word bank make it easy for younger kids to follow along independently or with guidance.

Coloring each section helps kids focus on the differences between the parts, especially if they’ve had the chance to cut open a real apple first.

Matching the colors of their worksheet to what they see, like the brown seeds or white flesh, adds an extra layer of understanding.

It’s a low-prep activity that fits easily into science time, morning work, or a themed apple unit. Ideal for preschool through first grade.

Our Favorite Apple Books for Kids

We’ve read a lot of apple books over the years, especially when we were doing fall units, and these three have stuck with us. They pair really well with activities like the parts of an apple worksheet, and they’ve helped make the science side feel more connected to real stories.

  • Ten Apples Up On Top! This one got read a lot when my son was younger. It’s silly and fast-paced, which made it great for practicing early counting and keeping his attention. Even now, it still makes us smile.
  • How Do Apples Grow? We used this right after doing the apple labeling activity. It explains the life cycle clearly, without feeling too heavy. It also gave us the idea to explore apple seeds and try growing one (it didn’t work, but it was fun to try!).
  • Apples of North America. This one’s more advanced, but great if your child likes digging deeper. We flipped through it during a geography lesson and ended up comparing apple varieties by state. It’s full of details but still accessible if your child is curious about where apples come from.
