Free Printable P is for Peacock Handprint Art
P is for Peacock handprint crafts were one of our favorite ways to make learning the alphabet fun and hands-on.
My son loved the chance to get messy with paint while practicing the letter P, and this simple printable gave us a creative break from worksheets.
It also helped with fine motor skills, color recognition, and made it easier for him to remember the letter sounds.

Letter P Handprint Craft
When we first tried this alphabet handprint craft, I wasn’t expecting how much fun it would be, or how long the paint would stay on my kitchen chairs!
But it turned into a great way for my son to connect with the letter P, and the finished page was one he actually wanted to hang up.
To try it at home, print the peacock template on cardstock (it holds paint much better). We used orange for the feathers, but let your kids choose their own peacock colors, it’s more fun that way.
I used a small brush to coat his hands with a thin layer of washable paint (wipes ready!).
We pressed both hands down on either side of the body, fingers up and out, then gently peeled them off. After it dried, he added details with markers and colored in the big letter P.
Fun Letter P Printables for Preschoolers
If you’re looking to build out a full week of letter p activities, here are a few printables we’ve used and loved. They’re easy to prep, help reinforce early literacy, and tie into fun preschool themes like animals, space, and pirates.
We paired our P is for Peacock handprint with a few other favorites:
- Penguin printables – The handprint craft and matching memory game were big hits in our house, especially during winter. We even added a quick lesson on penguin anatomy using this simple worksheet.
- P is for Polar Bear – This printable mixes tracing, mazes, and problem-solving, which gave my son a chance to practice a few different skills in one go.
- Planet matching game: An engaging game that challenges kids to match planets, which can expand their knowledge of the solar system while associating the letter P with planets.
- Letter P coloring page – Great for quieter moments, especially when we needed something low-prep but still purposeful.
These printables helped keep our alphabet learning both structured and fun. Feel free to mix and match based on your child’s interests.
