6 Free Star Wars Handprint Art Templates

When my son first got into Star Wars, he wanted everything to be about lightsabers and droids, including art time. That’s how these Star Wars handprint printables became part of our May the 4th tradition.

They’ve been a surprisingly easy way to channel his love of the galaxy into something creative (and slightly less noisy than a lightsaber duel).

From BB8 to Darth Vader, these printable templates make it fun to turn messy hands into favorite characters, and they’ve doubled as birthday cards, wall art, and keepsakes over the years.

Handprint Star Wars Art

These handprint crafts are a great way to blend art with a little Star Wars magic. Each template gives kids a chance to follow simple steps while exploring color choices and hand placement, making it more than just a painting activity.

Because each design lines up with a familiar character, it’s easy for kids to recognize their finished creation, which adds a nice confidence boost. Whether you’re working with a preschooler or an older child, this project scales well and doesn’t require much setup.

Obi-Wan Kenobi

Start your handprint art adventure with Obi-Wan Kenobi.

Use brown paint to coat your child’s palm and fingers, then press it firmly onto cardstock beneath the Obi-Wan outline. Once dry, add details to complete his signature Jedi look.

Finn

For Finn, go with black paint to reflect his bold Resistance outfit.

Press the painted hand into place over the template, and let the silhouette highlight his strength and bravery.

BB8

BB8 is always a favorite in our house. Use bright orange paint and help your child place their handprint right below the droid’s head.

It’s a fun, simple design that really pops once the details are added.

Rey

Rey’s handprint uses brown paint to capture her desert scavenger roots.

As you press the handprint into place, it’s a great chance to chat about her journey from Jakku to Jedi.

Darth Vader

For Darth Vader, black paint is the way to go. This one’s always a hit with older kids who love the drama of the dark side.

After placing the handprint, you can add a red lightsaber or helmet detail for extra flair.

Han Solo

Use brown paint to recreate Han Solo’s rugged style. Once the handprint is dry, point out the little vest and boots in the design.

We like to add the words “I know” above it, just for fun and full effect.
