Free Spring Memory Game Printable
This spring memory game printable has been one of my go-to โlow effort, high successโ activities over the years.
When kids are wiggly but you still want something structured, a simple matching game almost always works.
With 12 spring-themed picture pairs, from bunnies and carrots to trees and rainbows, itโs ideal for preschool and kindergarten ages who are still building focus and visual memory skills.
Print two copies, cut the cards, and youโre ready to play.

Whatโs Included in the Spring Memory Game Printable
This printable includes 12 spring-themed picture pairs (24 cards total once printed twice). The images are simple, colorful, and easy for preschool and kindergarten kids to recognize.
Youโll find familiar seasonal pictures like a bunny, carrot, rainbow and sun, spring tree, lamb, chick, flower-themed outfits, decorated stones, logs with flowers, and a garden gnome.
The mix keeps the game visually interesting without overwhelming younger players.

The cards print on a single page, making prep quick. Just print two copies to create matching pairs, then cut out the cards and youโre ready to play.
Print two copies of the page so you have matching pairs. Before cutting, we like to color the backs of the cards to make them a little more fun (and to help hide the pictures when theyโre face down).
Once theyโre colored, cut out all 24 cards. Cardstock works best if you want them to last longer.

How to Play the Spring Memory Game
Shuffle the cards and lay them face down in rows or a simple grid.
Players take turns flipping over two cards at a time, trying to find a matching pair. If they find a match, they keep the pair and take another turn. If not, the cards are turned back over and the next player goes.
Keep playing until all pairs are found. The player with the most matches at the end wins.
Itโs simple to play but gives preschool and kindergarten children valuable practice with visual memory, focus, and turn-taking.
You can also store the cards in a small envelope or zip-top bag to reuse them throughout the season.

Ways to Adjust for Different Ages
For toddlers, start by laying all the cards face up and simply matching identical pictures. You can even begin with just one printed page to keep the game short and manageable.
For preschool and kindergarten ages, use both pages and play the traditional way with cards face down. As their memory improves, you can increase the challenge by spacing the cards farther apart or mixing them more randomly.

Spring-Themed Books to Pair With This Game
If youโre planning a spring-themed morning or classroom center, adding a short read-aloud can make it feel more complete. Here are a few gentle seasonal books that pair well with this memory game:
- The Tiny Seed by Eric Carle โ A simple story about the life cycle of a flower that works beautifully with younger preschoolers.
- Mouseโs First Spring by Lauren Thompson โ Soft, repetitive text that helps toddlers and early learners notice signs of spring.
- When Spring Comes by Kevin Henkes โ A calm introduction to seasonal change that pairs nicely with nature-themed cards like the tree and rainbow.
After reading, you can leave the memory cards out as a quiet follow-up activity.
