This butterfly word scramble has been a fun way for us to reinforce insect vocabulary while studying the butterfly life cycle.

We used it during a spring unit on metamorphosis, and it quickly turned into a spelling challenge my son actually looked forward to.

There are two versions included, one with a word list for younger learners and one without for a bit more of a challenge.

Butterfly Life Cycle Vocabulary

This free word scramble focuses specifically on vocabulary from the butterfly’s life cycle. Terms like larva, chrysalis, and proboscis may be unfamiliar to kids, but they’re useful vocabulary when learning about metamorphosis.

The printable includes two versions to support different levels: one with a word list for reference, and one without for kids who want a tougher challenge.
