Free Butterfly Word Scramble Printable
This butterfly word scramble has been a fun way for us to reinforce insect vocabulary while studying the butterfly life cycle.
We used it during a spring unit on metamorphosis, and it quickly turned into a spelling challenge my son actually looked forward to.
There are two versions included, one with a word list for younger learners and one without for a bit more of a challenge.
Whether you’re teaching about butterflies in the classroom or at home, this printable adds just enough difficulty to keep kids engaged while sneaking in some real learning.

Printable Life Cycle of a Butterfly Word Scramble
This free word scramble focuses specifically on vocabulary from the butterfly’s life cycle. Terms like larva, chrysalis, and proboscis that kids may not encounter often, but are key to understanding metamorphosis.
The printable includes two versions to support different levels: one with a word list for reference, and one without for kids who want a tougher challenge.
Both versions are designed to reinforce science content through language play, ideal for early finishers, stations, or cross-curricular lessons.
We’ve used this alongside books, diagrams, and even short videos on butterfly development. It pairs especially well with visual aids, since the more kids see and hear the terms, the faster they click.
