We like to decorate the back of the cards.

So cut the border around the edge so you are left with the 12 images.

Then grab your coloring pens (these are the ones we love and use all the time) and have fun.

Top tip: if you are using copy paper use coloring pencils or crayons, as the pens may bleed through to the image on the front.

When you have printed the 2 pages you will need to cut out all of the different images.

I prefer to use a paper cutter as it’s easier, quicker, and more accurate, but scissors will work too.

What images are included in the fun Christmas memory game?

There are 12 different Christmas theme images that you will need to pair:

  • Christmas tree
  • Father Christmas
  • Christmas gifts
  • Christmas lights
  • Elf
  • Candy cane
  • Christmas decorated mailbox
  • Lump of coal
  • Hot chocolate
  • Reindeer
  • Snowman
  • Gingerbread man

How to play the Christmas memory game?

Shuffle the cards up and lay them on the table face down in rows to make it easier. Or just randomly on the table for older kids.

If you are placing them in rows I find 6 rows with 4 images each works best.

Playing the game is simple.

If you are playing in small groups the youngest player goes first.

Take it in turns to turn over only 2 images.

If it is a match you can either remove them from the game and place them in front of you or leave them turned over face up.

If it is not a matching pair then just return the cards face down, and continue playing.

This is also great for individual play.

The winner is the person who creates the most pairs. Celebrate the winner with these Christmas stickers.

What are the benefits of playing memory games?

Memory games are not only fun for younger kids to play, but they are also educational.

Of course, playing improves memory skills. But it can improve a child’s attention span, their concentration, visual discrimination skills, and focus.

Matching games also help with critical thinking and help children with their attention to detail.

Homeschooling a child with ADHD has helped me understand the importance of focus. So these games are great as a brain break when needed with kids of all ages.
