Free Activities to Celebrate Grandparents Day
When my son was younger, he loved making things for his grandparents, especially anything with his handprints or silly answers to those “All About” questions.
These printable Grandparents Day activities turned into keepsakes that Grandma and Grandad actually saved.
Whether your kids enjoy coloring, painting, or filling in fun facts, these printables are an easy way to make Grandparents Day feel a little more thoughtful without a big project.
Supplies You’ll Need
To get started, you’ll want a few basic supplies on hand:
- Cardstock (for sturdier crafts, though regular paper works too)
- Washable paints – we use these for all our handprint and footprint art
- Paintbrush
- Coloring pens, crayons, or pencils
- Baby wipes or paper towels – trust me, they save your table
How to Use
All the Grandparents Day activity printables are formatted for standard 8.5″ x 11″ paper. Just print the pages you need, and let your kids color, paint, or fill them in.
We recommend cardstock for anything involving paint, but plain paper works great for coloring and writing.
The printables are for personal or classroom use. Scroll to the bottom of the post to access the PDF.
Grandparents Day Handprint Craft
Handprint and footprint crafts are always a hit in our house, and these are perfect for Grandparents Day.
You’ll find two designs: one for Grandma and one for Grandpa.
- Grandma version: We usually use footprints, but handprints work just as well.
- Grandpa version: For the My Grandpa Rocks craft, paint your child’s hand and stamp it with fingers down, it makes a sweet guitar shape.
These make adorable keepsakes, especially when printed on cardstock.
For another option I also love this I’m as lucky as can bee, the best grandparents belong to me.
Grandparents Day Cards to Color
These printable cards let kids color their own message for Grandma and Grandpa. Each card says Happy Grandparents Day and features one of four cute designs.
Kids can use crayons, markers, or colored pencils to personalize each one. Whether they color all four or pick a favorite, it’s a low-prep activity that still feels thoughtful.
All About My Grandma Worksheet
This printable is part coloring page, part keepsake. Kids answer prompts about their grandma, like her favorite flower, best saying, or favorite book, and draw a picture too.
It’s a sweet way for children to reflect on what makes their grandma special and can even spark some fun conversations.
All About My Grandpa Worksheet
This version is all about Grandpa. Kids fill in fun prompts like his favorite sport or car and draw a portrait too.
If your kids love sharing their thoughts in writing or drawing, this is a great way to celebrate Grandad while practicing those early literacy skills.
Celebrate the Whole Family
If your kids enjoy making these Grandparents Day worksheets, they’ll probably love creating keepsakes for other family members too. These printables follow the same heartfelt format and work well for holidays or just-because moments:
- All About My Mom printable – a sweet way to capture favorite memories and funny sayings.
- All About My Dad worksheet – kids can draw, color, and answer fun prompts about their dad.
- Father’s Day handprint craft printable – another paint-based keepsake that’s always a hit.
- Mother’s Day handprint art – pair with flowers or breakfast in bed for a simple celebration.
They’re all low-prep and designed to be meaningful without needing anything fancy.
