Halloween Matching Game Printable
This Halloween matching game printable is a quick, low-prep activity that’s perfect for a classroom party, family game night, or just a quiet afternoon at home.
Kids will love the spooky characters, and it’s a fun way to sneak in a little memory practice too.
How to Prep the Game
You’ll find the free printable memory game at the bottom of this post. Here’s how to get it ready to play:
Print the page twice, you’ll need two copies of the 12 Halloween-themed images to make matching pairs.
Use cardstock if you can for sturdier cards.
Customize the backs (optional): Add patterns, stickers, or color to make them more festive, and to keep kids from seeing through!
Cut out the cards using scissors or a paper cutter.
Laminate them if you want to reuse the game or make it more durable for classroom use.
How to Play
- Shuffle the cards and place them face-down in a grid (6 rows of 4 works well).
- Players take turns flipping two cards at a time, trying to find a match.
- If the cards match, the player keeps the pair.
- If they don’t, flip them back over and the next player takes a turn.
- The player with the most pairs at the end wins!
This works great for preschoolers all the way through early elementary, and if you want to make it more exciting, offer a Halloween sticker to the winner.

Why Matching Games Are Great for Kids
We’ve used matching games like this one to work on focus, memory, and even a bit of patience, especially when screen-free activities were the goal.
Here are some of the real benefits we’ve seen:
- Improved memory: Kids practice recalling images and locations, which builds short-term memory in a playful way.
- Better focus: Turning over cards and remembering their position takes attention, which helps build concentration.
- Visual recognition: Matching similar-but-not-identical characters helps with noticing details, great for reading and writing.
- Social learning: It’s an easy way to take turns, follow rules, and celebrate small wins together.
Games like this one don’t feel like “learning,” but they absolutely support it.
