Free Halloween Photo Scavenger Hunt For Teens & Tweens

This Halloween photo scavenger hunt was a lifesaver the year my 12 year old decided he was too old for trick-or-treating.

No costume, no candy, just a group of tweens who still wanted something fun to do.

We printed a list, handed them phones, and let them loose in the neighborhood with a one-hour time limit.

They had a blast racing to capture everything from teal pumpkins to creepy clowns.

If your kids are aging out of traditional Halloween activities, this is an easy way to keep the night exciting without feeling too young.

Halloween Scavenger Hunt for Teens

This photo scavenger hunt for tweens works best with small teams, two or three kids per group is ideal. Make sure each team has a phone or camera.

We prefer smartphones so you can keep track of their location (especially if younger siblings are tagging along), but a digital or even Polaroid camera works too.

Before heading out, go over a few simple rules:

  • Stay in your group
  • Be polite to neighbors
  • Take a photo of each item
  • Return home within 1 hour
  • Most important, have fun!

If you’re working with mixed ages, pair younger kids with older ones and set clear neighborhood boundaries.

You can also adapt this Halloween scavenger hunt for younger kids by driving them around or joining them on foot.

A clipboard with storage is handy for holding phones and pens, especially if costumes don’t have pockets.
