Free Elf on the Shelf Hat Printable

This Elf on the Shelf hat printable started out as a last-minute idea and somehow became one of our most memorable elf antics ever.

One December morning, after completely forgetting to move the elf, I grabbed some tape, cut out a few hats, and stuck them onto our family photos. The kids were howling, they thought it was the funniest thing their elf had ever done. Even the dog had a hat.

Now it’s a yearly tradition. We all wake up and race to see which photos got “elf-ified” overnight. It’s simple, mess-free, and genuinely hilarious, especially when someone ends up with a green hat and no explanation.

Elf Hat Printable

This elf accessory printable has been a holiday lifesaver in our house. It comes with 8 red hats and 4 green ones, perfect for adding a bit of mischief without any of the usual mess.

We always print them on cardstock to make them sturdier, especially if the Elf plans to reuse them throughout December.

One year, we used these hats in a way that had the kids laughing for days. With a bit of Scotch magic tape (folded to be double-sided), we stuck hats onto as many family photos as we could find. Even the dog’s picture got one.

To make it even funnier, we gave the kids green hats in every photo so they stood out, and then challenged them to find them all. That morning’s elf hunt turned into a full-on giggle fest.

You can get creative too, maybe just elf-ify the kids, or turn your fridge into a mini North Pole gallery.

It’s one of our favorite Elf traditions because it’s quick, low-effort, and totally mess-free. No glitter explosions. No marker cleanups. Just some easy, silly fun.
