Halloween Candy Scavenger Hunt (Free Printable Riddles)

Halloween candy scavenger hunt printables have been a lifesaver in our house, especially the year my son wanted something fun but wasn’t into trick-or-treating anymore.

This version includes 12 simple rhyming clues that lead kids through the house, with hiding spots like the laundry room, pantry, and even the light switch.

It’s low-prep, screen-free, and easy to adapt for one child or a whole group. Just print the clues, cut them out, and tuck them in place.

The final clue leads to their candy stash, making it a fun and festive way to celebrate Halloween at home.

How to Prepare for the Halloween Hunt

Getting everything set up takes just a few minutes, but a little planning goes a long way.

These scavenger hunt printable clues are free to print (for personal use only), scroll to the bottom of the post to grab the PDF.

I recommend using cardstock so they hold up better, especially if excited hands are involved. Cut out the 12 clues, then use the second page as a guide for where to hide them.

Each clue is written to fit a common spot in most homes, closets, windows, kitchen pantry, etc., so you don’t need anything special to pull this off.

Before you start, decide on the clue order and hiding locations. That way, the hunt flows smoothly and keeps kids engaged from start to finish.

And don’t forget the candy! Hide the final stash with the last clue as a sweet surprise.

Start the Halloween Candy Hunt

Once the clues are hidden and the candy is stashed, it’s time to start the hunt! Hand your child the first clue and let them take it from there.

Older siblings can join in or help guide younger kids as they solve each riddle. The clues are written in simple rhymes, so even early readers can enjoy playing along.

The hunt ends with a sweet surprise at the final hiding spot, and lots of laughs along the way.
