Free Halloween Color by Number Printables

Halloween color by number worksheets were a lifesaver for us last October.

My son was in that pre-reader stage where he wanted to be independent but still needed some guidance, and these printables gave him just the right mix of structure and fun.

He loved watching the pictures slowly appear as he matched each number to its color (the witch was his favorite!).

We kept a few pages on hand for quiet mornings, and I even laminated a couple so he could reuse them with dry-erase markers.

If you’re looking for a simple way to mix math and creativity this Halloween, this set is a fun, low-prep option for kids ages 3 to 7.

Color by Number Halloween Printables

If your kids are anything like mine, spooky color by number worksheets are one of those activities that feel like pure fun, but secretly pack in some great learning too.

This free set includes 9 printable pages that became our go-to activity during Halloween week.

My son especially loved the haunted house and colored it three different ways, so we laminated that one and brought it out again the next day.

A completed Halloween color-by-number worksheet shows a haunted house with a purple sky, black roof, yellow windows, and grey ground. The color key at the top includes purple, yellow, black, grey, and pink. The page is surrounded by Halloween-themed items including Crayola Twistables markers on the right and black caution tape labeled “HORRORZONE” with dripping white letters across the top.

Whether you’re planning Halloween centers, looking for a screen-free activity for preschoolers, or just want something festive to keep little hands busy, these coloring pages are a fun (and sneaky) way to reinforce number and color recognition.

Make sure to grab the bonus Halloween countdown coloring sheet too, it was a hit in our house!

The setup is framed with Halloween caution tape reading “ZOMBIE” and skull-themed graphics, creating a festive spooky vibe.

A completed Halloween color-by-number worksheet features a friendly green-faced witch wearing a black hat and surrounded by an orange background. The coloring guide at the top includes colors like purple, orange, green, grey, black, and white. To the right are six Crayola markers, and above the page is a yellow “Zombie Zone” caution tape splattered with red and decorated with silhouettes of zombies.

Each page uses a simple numbered color key and reinforces early math and motor skills while keeping things fun and festive.

How These Halloween Color by Number Pages Help Kids Learn

These Halloween-themed color by number printables aren’t just fun, they’re great for learning, especially with younger kids:

  • Color recognition: Matching numbers to specific crayons helps kids quickly identify colors, even tricky ones like gray vs. dark gray.
  • Number sense: My son practiced recognizing numbers 1–6 without even realizing it, it felt more like solving a puzzle than doing math.
  • Fine motor skills: Coloring inside small shapes gave him good practice with pencil grip and control, especially with the more detailed pages like the mummy and haunted house.
  • Following directions: These pages encouraged him to slow down, focus, and complete the picture step-by-step, which isn’t always easy at this age!

They’ve been a great fit for our homeschool mornings in October or as a calm afternoon activity when he needed a break from more structured lessons.
