Free Halloween Bookmarks Printable To Color In

This Halloween bookmarks printable came in handy one afternoon when I needed something quiet and creative for my son to do while I finished up a few things.

He was completely focused, choosing colors for the pumpkins, carefully outlining the ghost’s face, and I realized it was one of those rare activities that didn’t need any setup or supervision.

We’ve since used them for everything from calm morning work to little gifts for friends.

If you’re looking for a low-prep way to keep kids engaged during a busy October, these free printable coloring bookmarks are easy to print, fun to color, and surprisingly versatile.

Halloween Coloring Bookmarks

These free Halloween printables include six different designs, with three bookmarks on each page.

From spooky pumpkins to silly mummies, there’s a nice mix of Halloween characters for kids to color and use.

You’ll get two portrait-format pages in the PDF. I recommend printing them on cardstock if you have it, ours held up much better that way, especially when we added markers and gel pens into the mix.

A set of Halloween-themed coloring bookmarks in black and white placed on a paper trimmer. The bookmarks feature cute Halloween illustrations including pumpkins, a ghost, a vampire, a mummy, a test tube with the word "BOO," and the phrase "trick or treat."

Once printed, cut the bookmarks apart (a paper cutter works great for clean lines), and let the kids decorate them however they like. Each one measures 2.5 x 8.5 inches. We usually laminate ours after coloring so they last longer, but that part’s totally optional.

A Halloween-themed bookmark featuring four hand-colored jack-o'-lanterns stacked vertically, with purple stars as accents. Next to the bookmark are five dual tip markers in Halloween colors: purple, yellow, black, green, and orange.

They’re perfect for home, classroom use, or even handing out to trick-or-treaters, just a simple way to mix creativity with a little Halloween fun.

If your kids enjoy coloring bookmarks as much as mine does, you might also like our free Day of the Dead bookmarks, they’re just as fun and a great follow-up activity after Halloween.

Best Halloween Books for Kids

We’ve gone through quite a few Halloween reads over the years, some too spooky, some too silly, but these have really stuck with us:

  • Big Pumpkin – This one was a favorite when my son was younger. It’s perfect for K–3 and has just enough repetition and fun for read-alouds.
  • Moldilocks and the Three Scares – A clever twist on the classic story, with just the right mix of creepy and cute. Great for early elementary.
  • Roald Dahls Book of Ghost Stories – We tried this one last year, but it was a bit too intense at the time. We’re giving it another shot now that he’s older. Best for 12+.
  • The Halloween Tree – A beautifully written book with a mysterious, time-travel feel. It’s a good pick for kids in grades 3–7 who like stories with a bit more depth.
  • A Small Zombie Problem – This one was a surprise hit. It’s quirky, funny, and just spooky enough for middle grade readers.
  • The Witches by Roald Dahl – A classic, though definitely dark in places. Worth reading together if your child hasn’t tackled it yet.

More Halloween Activities

If your kids are anything like mine, one Halloween printable is never enough. Here are a few more we’ve used over the years that turned out to be real hits:

  • Halloween bingo – This is one of our go-to games for parties or just winding down after dinner. It’s easy to set up, and kids love spotting the spooky images while building a little focus and patience.
  • Halloween coloring cards – These cards to color have been great for handing out to friends or adding to treat bags. My son enjoys picking his favorite and writing silly notes inside.
  • Halloween scavenger hunt – This indoor hunt is such a fun way to burn off excitement before trick-or-treating. The rhyming clues make it feel like a mystery game.
  • Easy Halloween crafts – From paper ghosts to DIY masks, these simple crafts have filled many October afternoons. No fancy supplies needed, just some imagination.
  • Halloween dot to dot printables – Great for younger kids who like puzzles but don’t want anything too tricky. Plus, they get to color the spooky picture at the end.
  • Frankenstein handprint – This one always gets a laugh. We’ve done it year after year and hung it up like a Halloween tradition.
  • Halloween table placemats – These have saved us during Halloween dinners when excitement runs high. Fun to color and great for keeping little hands busy at the table.
