Elf on the Shelf Mad Libs (Free Printable)
Every December, we look for fun ways to keep the Elf on the Shelf magic going without adding more to my to-do list.
This Elf on the Shelf Mad Libs printable has been one of our favorite low-prep activities, it’s silly, creative, and gets kids giggling while sneaking in a bit of grammar practice too.
My son always comes up with the most ridiculous combinations (one year, his elf wore a neon pink tutu and hid behind the potatoes), and it turns into something we laugh about all season.
Whether you’re a teacher needing a quick classroom filler or a parent just trying to make the mornings fun again, this Mad Libs sheet is a great way to bring in some festive wordplay without any extra stress.

About the Elf Mad Libs
This free printable Mad Libs is one-page that blends silly storytelling with just the right amount of learning.
Kids fill in the blanks with their own nouns, verbs, and adjectives to create a hilarious holiday tale starring their mischievous Elf.
What I love about this is how easy it is to use, no prep, just print and go. My son always surprises me with the funniest word combos, and we usually end up reading the finished story out loud while cracking up.
After the story’s done, kids can color in the festive fireplace scene, complete with a cheerful little Elf on the shelf. It’s a quick, creative activity that works just as well for quiet time at home as it does for a classroom holiday station.

More Fun Elf on the Shelf Activities
If your kids enjoyed the Mad Libs, there are plenty of other Elf-themed activities to keep the holiday fun going without much prep.
We like to start the week with a festive Elf on the Shelf word search, it’s great for a quiet moment and sneaks in some vocabulary practice.
The Elf word scramble is another favorite in our house. It’s a bit more of a challenge and always gets my son thinking (and occasionally frustrated in a good way!).
On the cozier side, we rotate through a few Christmas elf books in the evenings. They make great read-alouds, and some even inspire our Elf’s next silly hiding spot.
And if your Elf likes to stir up a little mischief, the Elf scavenger hunt is a fun way to turn the morning into a mini adventure. The rhyming clues are easy to set up and always bring out big smiles.
