What’s Included in the Halloween Coloring Story

These Halloween story coloring pages are a little different from a typical set of unrelated coloring sheets. The six pages connect to tell one simple Halloween story, with new characters joining the adventure as it unfolds.

The story begins with a Halloween party and introduces a cast of classic characters, including Frankenstein, a skeleton, mummy, devil, witch, wizard, zombie, and vampire.

Kids can read or listen to the story one page at a time, coloring each scene as the characters appear. Once all six pages are finished, they can look back through their completed Halloween coloring story from beginning to end.

This works especially well as a Halloween read-aloud activity. Younger kids can listen while they color, while independent readers can follow the story themselves. You could also staple the finished pages together to make a simple Halloween coloring storybook.

Halloween Story Coloring Pages

Each coloring page continues the story with a different character or scene. Kids can choose their own colors, but these ideas can help if they want inspiration.

Halloween party: Start the story with classic Halloween colors such as orange, purple, and black. Yellow or white around the lights can add a glowing effect.

Zombie: Try pale green skin with gray or brown clothes, or let kids create a completely different zombie. For more undead fun, we also have zombie coloring sheets.

Mummy: Off-white or pale yellow works well for the bandages, with gray added around the edges for shadows.

Devil: Red and black are the obvious choices, but kids can add orange, yellow, or purple details to make the character their own.

Witch and wizard: Dark green, purple, and midnight blue work well for the robes and hats. The bubbling cauldron is a good chance to add a bright, unexpected color for the potion.

Frankenstein: Go traditional with green skin and dark clothing, or try purple, navy, or red for a different look.

Final moonlight scene: The Halloween story ends beneath a full moon. Try pale gray or white for the moon, deep brown for the tree, and yellow or orange for a soft nighttime glow.

There are no right or wrong colors. The suggestions simply give kids a starting point while leaving plenty of room to create their own version of the Halloween story.
