21 Best Science Board Games in 2023
I have never hidden the fact that science is my least favorite subject to teach. So I am always on the lookout to make it more exciting (for me, just as much as my son). These are the best science board games that we play for fun homeschool.
Finding fun board games for kids can be hard especially when you are trying to incorporate learning. But I have found 21 science games that we love, and you will too.
In fact, we will continue to play them in high school too! It just calms down the day, and to be honest, my son learns just as much from a good board game as he does from sitting at a workbook for hours.

Science Board Game Ideas
We like to incorporate these science board games with our homeschool science curriculum and our homeschool science books so he gets a completely rounded education.
I have broken these science board games into the following:
- STEM Board games
- Chemistry board games
- Biology board games
I have made sure to add the recommended age for each board game too, as some of these are more for high schoolers.
STEM Board Games
These are the best STEM board games for kids aged 8 and above.
STEM Family Battle
There are two levels of difficulty to choose from flyweight and heavyweight.
Younger players don't necessarily need to use the 'easier' questions, some real smartypants prefer to play at the same level as the older player which makes the trouncing even sweeter.
There are lots of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math questions based on video games to ease the withdrawal during your screen-free family game night.
For kids aged 12+ (It says 15 on the box, but we play this with our 12 year old.)
The Genius Gems
This is a fantastic STEM game.
The goal is to fill the 10 hexagon patterns based on the roll of the dice and the landed colored wells.
With 10,794 possible solutions, you will find it to be brilliantly challenging!
For kids aged 8+
Power Failure
This is a STEM based game for older kids (and adults!).
It serves as a gentle (and fun) reminder about the effects of energy production and consumption on our environment.
This is a great game to play for high schoolers.
For kids aged 14+
The Genius Star
This is featured in one of our favorite one player games for kids too as it is an excellent and fun game. But it can be played with 2 people if you wanted to join in on the fun.
This is very similar to the genius gems game listed above.
For kids aged 8+

We absolutely love MindWare games as you know they are not only going to be fun, but they are also very educational, and perfect for homeschoolers.
