Countdown to Christmas with Printables We Use Every Year

In our house, the Christmas countdown really starts when Twinkletoes (our Elf on the Shelf) shows up. Even now that our son’s in on the secret, we still love the routine, it keeps the magic going in a way that feels just right for his age.

We also lean on a few tried-and-true printable Christmas activities to mark the days and stay organized. From coloring your own advent calendar to tracking gift lists and planning festive outings, these Christmas countdown ideas make the season feel more joyful and a lot less chaotic.

Here are some of the ones we use year after year:

Christmas Printable Games for Kids

Some of our favorite December memories come from simple games around the kitchen table, no screens, just laughs (and maybe a few marshmallows in hot cocoa).

Over the years, these printable Christmas games have become part of our holiday rhythm, especially during the last week before Christmas when everything feels a bit chaotic.

Whether you’re hosting a classroom party, planning a family game night, or just need a fun activity while dinner finishes cooking, these are easy, festive options that kids actually enjoy, and they’re all printable.

  • Christmas board games for families – These are some of our actual go-to picks for December game nights. Cozy, competitive, and way better than watching another holiday movie for the tenth time.
  • Christmas escape room for kids – Our favorite printable packs with puzzles and clues that are for ideal for siblings, cousins, or small homeschool groups. Ours still talks about the year he “escaped Santa’s workshop.”
